Mahatma Gandhi & The Railways Indian Railways is celebrating 150th year of Railways in India. The celebration will begin in April 2002. As part of this celebration The Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has decided to publish Mahatma Gandhi & the Railways. While the officer of the Railway Board contacted navajivan for publication of this book we readily accepted the proposal. The book is compiled by Dr. Y.P. Anand, Director of National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi, who was also former Chairman of Railway Board, Government of India. We are indeed thankful to Dr. Y.P. Anand and the National Gandhi Museum for their cooperation in providing camera - ready copy of this book without any expectation. We are sure that the book, which is a compilation of writings about Railways by its distinguished passenger Mahatma Gandhi, will be read both by the railway men and the railway passengers throughout the world.
